Alex Kapadia and co-driver Jamie Patterson scored a double podium at the first round of the Radical European Masters in Jerez this weekend.
The pair looked set for a certain win in race two before a drive through penalty dropped in the last laps of the race them down to third place at the finish. Kapadia recorded one of his strongest drives yet to come from the back of the field to lead the race after a clutch failure at the start of the green flag lap.
“The clutch failed as I pulled away for the green flag lap and I managed to get the marshals to push start me, but then had to start from the back of the grid as the last car had already passed me. I had a great race working my way through the pack and then managed to build a good lead to hand over to Jamie. Jamie then built on this lead in the second half. We had a 30 second lead with 5 laps to go and we were given a drive through penalty for our pitstop being 1.6 seconds too short. Frustrating but that’s how it goes sometimes.”
